The short version
Damp carpet, a musty smell, or wind noise can come from the windshield bond, a sunroof drain, the cowl, or a body seam. At our McLean shop, we use a controlled water test to isolate the confirmed source before we quote the repair.

A prior glass installation is one possible source
A gap, dirty bond line, or incomplete urethane path can leak after glass work. We test the bond instead of assuming it failed from the timing or the wet spot alone.
Rust changes the job, and we will tell you
If water has been sitting long enough to rust the pinch weld, sealing over it just traps the problem. We will show you what we find and be straight about whether it needs bodywork first.

- How do I know it is the windshield and not a sunroof drain?
- You cannot tell from the wet spot alone. A windshield bond, sunroof drain, cowl path, or body seam can put water near the A-pillar or front carpet. We use a controlled water test to isolate the source.
- Can you reseal it, or does it need a new windshield?
- That depends on the confirmed source and the condition of the glass, bond, and opening. A failed bond may call for removal and proper resealing. Rust or edge damage can change the repair, and a drain or body-seam leak follows a different path.
